In 2017, KANSEL leadership wanted to introduce a new kind of event that could both support the work and mission of the school, as well as be a welcoming environment for everyone!
Most fundraising events for non-profits involve high priced tickets ($150 or more), banquets and/or auctions. Which are great tools to raise money for causes, but most working parents, or adults are limited on how they can give, or not able to afford to support causes they care about.
In the fall of 2017, KANSEL found media partners and began selling tickets for Prom of the Ages 2018.
The goals was to have 500 people in the room. By December, more than 800 tickets were sold, and on the night of the event, 1,300 guests attended the event!
Since then, each year, staff and volunteers continue to improve the Prom experience for our guests. Even through years of challenge.
We have encountered multiple external challenges including government shutdowns and now COVID-19, that create income challenges for those attending our events.
As a non-profit serving at-risk families, it is important for us to find safe, healthy, and secure ways for our guests to continue to invest their confidence in us, by attending events and connecting directly with our mission. Because those at-risk families are also effected by economic, education or health challenges and their lifeline to a future can rely on our ability to fund ourselves and provide programs and services.
